This Day in History

Today marks the birth anniversary of William Steig, children's book author and Caldecott Medal winner. Why would NCC, a college, care about an author who wrote for children? For many reasons!

The NCC Libraries maintain a collection of children's literature, which contains picture books, easy readers, juvenile fiction and young adult titles. This collection is a great resource for our Early Childhood Education majors, who need to prepare lesson plans and story time programs, and aspiring graphic artists who would like to study the technique of well-known illustrators. It is also open to anyone who wants to check out a book to bring home to a young reader. Don't forget to make an appointment to visit our special Dornish Collection, a room housing more than 1,000 children's books that are signed by either the author or illustrator.
